Outgoing President Farewell 2020 – Kay Reid

A message from the outgoing President of the BGSC, Kay Reid:

Following the unprecedented circumstances we are living in, which has led to the AGM having to be cancelled this year, I find myself unable to deliver my retiring President’s address in person to the members, but after serving as an Officer of the BGSC for the last 14 years, would like to take this opportunity to offer my thanks to several individuals who have been so supportive of the Club. If I listed everyone individually who has been on committee or ex-officio or volunteer helpers over the years, it would sound like an Oscar Winner’s speech, so I would like to firstly express my thanks to all the hard working officers & committee it has been my privilege to serve with and all the non-committee helpers for everything they have done. I would however like to single out 3 people who have made significant contributions to the success of the Club; Tilly Thomas, your current Vice President, has worked tirelessly to encourage and promote the field trial and working side of our breed by organising training days and is always more than happy to offer advice to novices; Sue Mitchell , one of your Honorary Vice Presidents, who beavers away all year organising Discover Dogs participation at Crufts, Earls Court and our presence at many Country shows and Game fairs throughout the year and finally Frances Boxall who has amongst the many things she has done to help the Club, run our web site, compiled the annual points for the members trophies and checked and proof read the Yearbook editorial content. Finally I would like to thank you, the members, for supporting the Club at shows, events, AGMs and through Yearbook adverts & Gordoner articles – without an active membership this Club would be nothing, so I personally would like to thank every one of you for allowing me the honour of being able to serve the BGSC and support the breed I love.

Many thanks for your help with this and wishing you and the Club every success in the future.
